Daresbury Laboratory, Daresbury,

I have worked for over 20 years at Daresbury Laboratory on accelerator science and technology. I have particular expertise in synchrotron radiation calculations and undulator magnet design, which has been applied to all of the UK light source projects (SRS, DIAMOND, 4GLS, NLS, ALICE, Alpha-X). I am the author of a book on this subject which was published by OUP in 2004. In addition, I have considerable experience in the design and fabrication of conventional accelerator magnets. A key area of interest over recent years has been the design of polarized positron sources for future linear colliders and I am the leader of the global ILC Positron Source group. I am responsible for directing the studies of the 17 collaborating institutes, which include nearly all of the major accelerator laboratories from around the world (SLAC, FNAL, ANL, KEK, BNL, DESY, etc) as well as several UK universities (Oxford, Durham, Lancaster, and Liverpool). I have been an Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Liverpool since 2005.
