Duncan has been at Daresbury since 2000 and a member of the Magnetics & Radiation Sources Group since its inception in 2002. He works on accelerator physics topics and undulator design. For example, he was involved in designing the in-vacuum undulators for Diamond, an APPLE-II type undulator for the SRS and a superconducting helical undulator for the ILC positron source.

Duncan received his PhD from Liverpool University in 2008 for his work on the ILC positron source helical undulator. His thesis looked at the magnet and vacuum design, radiation calculations, beam orbit and wakefields in the device. …more »
